Today's recipe I am sharing is a modified version of a simple candy from back in the pioneer days. I'm pretty sure sweet treats like these were a welcome comfort on the Frontier.
Brown Sugar Kisses2 C. brown sugar
1 egg white, beaten
1/3 C. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 C. nuts
Add water to sugar and cook until syrup forms a hard ball in cold water test (about 250-265 degrees). Pour syrup slowly over stiffly beaten egg white and blend. Add vanilla and nuts. Drop onto wax paper to harden.
Mealtime Prayer - Father, we thank Thee for this food, for health and strength and all things good. May others all these blessings share, and hearts be grateful everywhere.
